1 October 2008 Electronic simulator of atmospheric backscattered signals for high-spectral-resolution lidar

Abstract
High-spectral-resolution lidar (HSRL) is a powerful tool for atmospheric remote sensing, which consists of many complicated optics and optoelectronics components. In order to provide a convenient signal source for testing the amplifier following the PMT, the analog-digital converter card, the performance of the data-processing software, and the debugging display software, a novel electronic simulator is developed to generate an electronic signal resembling the atmospheric backscattering signals of HSRL. The amplitude, detection range, and aerosol characteristics of the simulated signals can be adjusted.
