Abstract
Modulation transfer function (MTF) and pseudo-MTF analytical techniques are applied to the problem of predicting system performance for reconnaissance sensors that incorporate charge-coupled device (CCD) imaging detectors. The MTF analyses, used in conjunction with assumptions about signal-to-noise (S/N) requirements and a simplified weather model, provide a much-needed systems design tool.
