Abstract
Various kinds of copper (Cu) and molybdenum (Mo) mirror were studied on the damage induced by a TEA CO2 laser. Cu mirror had a damage threshold-2 to 2.4 times higher than that of a Mo mirror. As suggested in the previous work 1), a single-crystalline mirror was stronger than a poly-crystalline one while TEA CO2 laser was irradiated onto the mirror surface, because most of the damages originated at the grain boundaries of the poly-crystalline surface.
