Abstract
As an eye-friendly feature, the angle-invariant of structural color has attracted great research interest due to its importance in color decoration, anti-counterfeiting, and display. However, near-infrared light, which is harmful to eyes, has been ignored in most structural color development. Here, we propose and develop a color filter that integrates angle-invariant and near-infrared shielding functions. While the structure displays high-purity and angle-invariant color, it can also absorb near-infrared light and block its reflection to the observer's eyes. The color filter is composed of silicon dioxide-chromium-titanium dioxide-silver four-layers nano-films. Stem from the constructive interference, the color filter obtains a reflection peak greater than 87.80% at a wavelength of 433 nm, and appears as a high-quality blue color. Destructive interference and intrinsic absorption of chromium are responsible for the broadband absorption of near-infrared light, the color filter can effectively absorb nearinfrared light with a wavelength less than 1500 nm, and the average absorption rate is 88.78%. The graded refractive index arrangement inside the color filter makes the structural color and broadband absorption with a 60-degree angle insensitive characteristic. This novel eyefriendly color filter will make structural color a step forward in the practical application of sustainable development and humanization.
