Abstract
Continuous field transformation of the HE1m modes in various tapered waveguide structures is considered depending on the losses (gain) distribution in the waveguide material and on the behavior of dispersion curves in the plane of transverse wavenumber in cladding. Numerical sweep method is used to plot and analyze radial distribution of cylindrical components of the Poynting vector. Power flows of radiation propagating along the fiber axis in core and cladding are shown to depend on the tapered structure configuration.
