Abstract
This paper deals with the visual observation of quasi-moire patterns or glass patterns generated when an original black and white 2D transparency is superposed onto a copy of itself, and coplanarly rotated. Patterns are also observed if one of the transparency is the scaled-up or -down replica of the original one. Also, patterns are observed if different scaling factors are applied in different directions. Besides, the quasi-moire patterns are observed when one of the transparencies is skewed. Circular, elliptic, parabolic, hyperbolic, radial lines, and logarithmic spirals quasi-more patterns are observed. Also quasi-moire patterns observation is extended to color regions. Finally, the observation of black and white, and false color or gray contrasted quasi-moire patterns could suggest two forms to correlate retinal visual signals.
