Abstract
Three dimensional (3D) Surface model reconstruction from 3D scatter points is of great importance in variable fields such as 3D reconstruction based on images, scientific computing visualization, reserve engineering, industry design, analysis and simulation, virtual reality etc.. However, presently 3D points can be obtained with comparatively mature methods such as imagery methods (like photogrammetry, computer vision) and laser scanning etc. while surface model reconstruction from 3D scatter points is still a difficult problem. In this paper, a novel algorithm for automatic generation of 3D surface model based on projective constraint has been proposed. It makes full advantage of projective constraint of points and transfers the 3D Delaunay triangulation problem to a 2D Delaunay triangulation problem. Finally, 3D surface model can be automatically reconstructed. Experiment results show its reliability and robustness.
