Abstract

This paper discusses athermal glass designed by Schafer using our proprietary GlassDESIGN^TM (SGD) code. The glass formulations are dictated by choice of suitable material and application merit functions. The glass designs are subsequently manufactured for Schafer by SCHOTT North America. As an example we have designed and produced more than one-half dozen glasses with near-zero optical path difference in the visible and near-infrared portion of the spectrum. Such glasses have application for gratings, fibers, lenses and windows.
