Abstract
The condensation of the bubbles ejected into a subcooled liquid is studied by means of high speed photographic shadowgraphy using a rotating prism camera with the speed of 3500 frames per second. The system pressures are parametrically varied in the range from vacuum to 10 ata and the subcooled temperature ranges from 10 to 70 deg. The picture shows that the penetration of an ejected bubble into the flattened lower boundary of the preceding bubble is most significant. The high velocity liquid jet is indicated by using tracers such as polystylene particles or condensed milk which was introduced in the liquid. From these results, it was confirmed that the average velocity of the liquid jet can be estimated quantitatively. Finally, the results from an experiment of bubble ejection into a narrow space between two glass plates is reported as a means to model the fluid motion two dimensionally. The penetration of the ejected bubble into the preceding bubble is clearly evident and it was certified that the effect of the penetration is very important factor for bubble condensation in a subcooled liquid.
