We explore the use of a tilted fiber phase grating to diffract modulated rf optical signal out of the fiber. A mathematical model based on perturbation analysis is derived and used to describe the radiation mode behavior, including scattering direction and radiation power. Simulation results for a system based on a 2-cm-long, fiber phase grating tilted 45 deg are presented.
