Abstract

With the 15th International Congress on High Speed Photography and Photonics, the history of these meetings covers a time interval of 30 years. Within this time, about 1200 scientific papers have been presented. Assuming that each paper requires at least 6 months Ã‚Â©f experimental work, one scientist had to work for 600 years to fulfil this tremendous work, and if in our imagination this scientist had begun his work e.g. at MIT in 1492 when Columbus discovered this continent, he would have been still at work today. From this point of view the importance of our meetings is obvious.
