Abstract
Nowadays laser scanning technology is actively used for land surveying. This technology has proved itself to solve such tasks as 3D modeling, compilation of topographic plans, determining the structure deformations. An important issue in laser scanning data processing is the final accuracy estimation. Accuracy is affected both by the technical characteristics of a certain laser scanner model, external atmospheric conditions at the time of surveying, and the type of the scanning object, its color, texture, orientation in space. Scanning certain types of objects under adverse conditions can lead to large error values due to various noise components of the laser beam. The value of the laser beam wavelength and its divergence make the greatest contribution among the technical characteristics of the survey system. To achieve maximum accuracy, it is necessary to perform a joint analysis of all technical characteristics and error sources to make a decision about the choice of the best laser scanning system and the survey time. The analysis of various factors affecting the accuracy of laser scanning results is provided.
