Current VCSEL packages designs are shrinking further, while simultaneously adding more features into the package. Moreover, to fulfill the steadily rising requirements UV curable materials with additional curing mechanism offer both high reliability and cost-efficient mass production. In parallel these functional materials enable engineers to optimize current packages due to the versatility of dispensing and curing. For example, high units per hour necessitates UV curing, whereas shadow zones require heat, humidity or anaerobe curing solely or additionally to UV fixation.
Local optical coatings, dam stacking with high aspect ratio, reflow stable lens bonding, optical bandpass filters for different wavelength are feasible today and even more, supporting the next generation of VCSEL packages in both automotive and consumer applications.
