Abstract
As a large agricultural country, china agricultural water consumption accounts for about 70% of the national water consumption. In addition to the high water consumption of maize, exploring the regulation of water saving in maize under the severe water environment is important for stable and high yield of maize, reducing water consumption and improving water use efficiency. The normal growth and yield formation of crops are closely related to water content, the growth characteristics, physiological characteristics and water use efficiency of maize in different growth stages have different responses to regulated deficit irrigation. This paper mainly discussed the effects of regulated deficit irrigation on maize photosynthetic characteristics, water use efficiency and yield. The results indicated that excessive water deficit did not use the accumulation of photosynthetic products and dry matter of maize, resulting in a decrease in maize yield, while timeliness and proper amount water deficit could use photosynthesis to increase production and water use efficiency.
