At present, more and more studies prove that physical activity (PA) has a positive impact on the health of the seniors and emphasize the importance of personalized exercise prescription according to the specific situation of the seniors. However, there is a lack of insights and consensus on PA, its influencing factors and design of the personalized exercise system to promote PA behavior of the seniors, especially people in retirement. The purpose of this study is to explore the design of the personalized intelligent exercise system for the seniors from the perspective of behavior design. Firstly, an online investigation of the seniors (≥50 years old) exercise was completed based on the theory of Behavior Design. Secondly, the relationship between PA behavior indicators and PA behavior of the seniors was analyzed and the PA behavior model was developed. Finally, the frame of the personalized intelligent exercise system “PIES” for the seniors was designed. The results show that PA behavior of the seniors is related to the indicators of motivation, ability, prompt, and individual characteristics, consistent with the Behavior Design basically. It is feasible to design the personalized intelligent exercise system based on Behavior Design. This study provides a reference for the design of the personalized intelligent exercise system for the seniors at the level of design framework. In the future, the specific content of the system will be further studied.
