Abstract
Constrained melting heat transfer of phase change materials (PCMs) in a heat sink equipped with movable metal foams was investigated with application to passive thermal management system. Attention was paid to figuring out the effect of movable metal foams on melting heat transfer and latent heat storage performance of the PCM system. Numerical simulation was performed according to calculating enthalpy so as to affirm the locations of main thermal resistance in the PCM system, providing theoretical basis for the distribution of the movable metal foams. The result of this work revealed the thermal resistance mainly existed nearby the inner bottom of heat sink and the solid-liquid interfaces.
