Abstract
This paper presents a mixed integer non-linear programming model (MINLP) for optimizing a hybrid hub-and-spoke express network based on multiple logistics nodes and multiple modes of transportation, with air transportation as the main mode. The model aims to minimize transportation costs and time-value costs of goods, while also allowing for direct connections between spoke points in the network. To solve the model, an efficient genetic algorithm was designed and implemented using Python programming. The effectiveness of the proposed model was verified through a case study comparing the hybrid hub-and-spoke network with a non-hybrid scenario, optimizing the selection of three hubs and the connectivity pattern between the 10 nodes of the network. The results show that the hybrid network can significantly reduce total costs compared to the non-hybrid case, and that the proposed genetic algorithm can effectively solve the model, demonstrating the reliability and efficiency of the proposed hybrid network and genetic algorithm for optimizing multimodal transportation networks.
