Abstract
Real-time hydrometeorological data can provide meteorological early warning services for ships, ensure navigation safety, and improve the navigation capacity of the channel. The meteorological conditions in mountainous areas are complex, with significant changes in water levels and foggy conditions. Real-time monitoring of hydrological and meteorological conditions is necessary. To solve the problem of limited data transmission in mountainous areas, this article plans to use the short message communication function of the BeiDou system to achieve real-time data transmission. Based on the characteristics and format of BeiDou short message communication, protocol extensions have been made based on BeiDou 4.0 protocol. In addition, to improve the reliability of data transmission, message error correction and data retransmission mechanisms have been added to the communication process of the BeiDou system's short message communication function. Research has shown that utilizing the short message communication function of the BeiDou system can achieve and be suitable for the transmission of hydrological and meteorological data in key sections of mountainous areas with poor mobile network communication.
