Abstract

License plate recognition technology is an important part of intelligent transportation and has been widely used in traffic detection, parking charging and other scenarios. In road video inspection applications, the captured license plates are sometimes partially obscured by roadside obstacles such as trees, street light poles, bicycles, etc. The existing license plate recognition algorithms have low recognition accuracy when blocked. To address this problem, this paper proposes a license plate recognition algorithm based on multi-frame information fusion. When the license plate is partially occluded, a single frame often cannot identify the complete license plate number. By fusing context-related multi-frame information in the video, the missing license plate information can be completed. The algorithm introduces the Non-local attention mechanism to generate a transformation matrix. The transformation matrix and the corresponding pixel dot product operation are performed to obtain a weighted and adjusted feature map. The adjusted feature map is spliced with the original input feature map in the memory module, and finally the output feature map is Character classification to obtain license plate recognition results. Experimental results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper can fully integrate the characteristic information of license plate images and can effectively improve the accuracy of partially occluded license plate recognition.
