Abstract
Underwater active electrical sensing and artificial lateral lines are inspired by weakly charged fish and fish lateral lines, respectively, to sense electrical and pressure information. Among the common detection techniques, acoustic detection of near-field targets produces serious reverberation, resulting in low detection accuracy. Optical sensors have high requirements for light and water quality, which is not suitable for near-field detection in dim and turbid waters. The fusion of flow field and electric field detection methods can achieve high resolution and stability. This paper is to provide a method for recognizing underwater targets of different shapes and sizes using active electric field and flow field sensing. We carry out simulations to verify the possibility of this method and design a composite array of corresponding pressure and electric field sensors for experiments. The experimental results demonstrate that the accuracy of multi-source sensor fusion identification exceeds 98%, significantly surpassing that of a single field.
