Abstract
New fennosecond energy transfer measurements in the light harvesting complex of Rhodobacter sphaeroides 2. 4. 1 are reported. It is found that at room tremperature the time for the B800-to-B850 energy transfer is 0. 7 ps. In addition new in vivo and in vitro femtosecond transient absorption studies and fluorescence quantum yield measurements of the carotenoid spheroidene indicate that carotenoid to bacteriochiorophyll energy transfer may take place not only from the carotenoid Si state but also from the S2 state. 1.
