Abstract
At present interest in studying large-scale internal motions of polymer chains has noticeably increased. Investigators are interested in finding principles of molecular dynamic behaviour and, in the case of biological macromolecules are in search of a connection between such behaviour and biological function. The latter, for example, has been reflected in Ref. 1 where the functional role of domain displacements in enzymes has been reported. Many papers are devoted to investigating dynamics of flexible macromolecules such as DNA, polymer coils and others. But only a few works are available about dynamics of RNA which now attracts great attention due to the discovery of its autocatalytic properties. The most appropriate method for studying large-scale dynamics of high-molecular polymers is dynamic light scattering (DLS). In order to use this method successfully it is necessary to solve some methodological problems. First is the questions of the resolution power of this method. There are two sides in this problem: the optimal conditions for carrying out experiments, and the search for an adequate mathematical method for DLS data treatment. As concerns the latter, data treatments using regularization procedures are now widespread. We have checked the resolution of DLS in two ways: by computer experiments and by analysis of some real experiments. For this purpose we used the "SIPP" program2 developed in our laboratory and applied Tichonov's regularization procedure with constraints.
