Abstract
The temperature dependence of the complex dielectric permittivity in confined and bulk samples of the ferroelectric liquid crystals DOBAMBC in the bulk and adsorbed in ANOPORE membranes has been measured in the frequency range 10-1 Hz to 109 Hz. Several relaxations processes have been obtained for CE8 and DOBAMBC in the bulk. The spectra of the confined sample show that the molecular processes are nearly uninfluenced in restricted geometry. However, the Goldstone mode in the ferroelectric SmC* phase is not longer observed.
