Abstract
Taking the watershed characteristics in arid area into consideration and using GIS for the means of getting, saving and processing spatial data, based on digital landform analysis, this paper puts forward a method to simulate the processes of water forming and flow concentration in any watershed grid dynamically. It provides a new way for runoff modeling, flood forecasting, environmental disaster prediction in middle-high mountain and no observation station watershed. It is demonstrated by a case study in the Urumqi river basin in Xinjiang, China.
