We propose the development of optically rectifying antennas (rectennas) as a technology to develop ultra-high efficiency
solar cells that are compatible with large scale fabrication (self assembling) and low-cost (plastic) technologies. We size
the field enhancement factor that is needed to reach high efficiencies and we propose solutions for its implementation.
