Abstract
Due to their tunable light absorption characteristics and ability to generate hot carriers, plasmonic-metal nanostructures offer unique opportunities for light energy harnessing and conversion devices, from photodetectors to photoelectrochemical cells. In this talk I will show the importance of highly controlled experiments and high-quality materials for understanding and realizing plasmonic hot carrier devices. In particular I will present our recent effort in the synthesis and applications of monocrystalline plasmonic structures.
