The traditional radar system is subject to the bottleneck of electronics rate, and it encounters many problems in highspeed microwave millimeter wave generation and sampling. This article details the basic connotation, development status and technical advantages of microwave photonic technology. From the development history of three typical fields of radar, electronic warfare, and communication, the specific application status of microwave photonic technology is introduced in detail, and the internal relationship between the technical characteristics of microwave optical transmission and processing and the performance improvement of electronic information systems is comprehensively analyzed. Based on the development trend and bottleneck of electronic information systems, a solution based on microwave photon technology is proposed, in order to provide meaningful guidance for the future development and application of microwave photon technology.
