Abstract
In order to solve the contradiction between the increasing electricity demand and the gradual depletion of fossil energy, more and more DGs which use clean, renewable energy are connected to the distribution network, so the traditional distribution network topology has changed and the original traditional protection methods can no longer be accurate operation. The new protection method is needed to be proposed to adapt to the new type of distribution network. Based on analysing the fault characteristics of the new type of distribution network resonant grounding system with distributed power generation, a single-phase grounding fault protection method based on skewness and transient energy characteristics of zero-sequence current is proposed in this paper. At first, it is proposed to use the skewness of the high-frequency components of the zero-sequence current to select the fault line. Then the proposed protection method locates the fault section by calculating the transient energy of each section of the faulty line. Finally, the simulation of new type of distribution network is built on PSCAD, and the results prove the effectiveness of the proposed method.
