Abstract
In order to ensure energy security and achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, China has undergone a transformation and upgrade in its energy sector. However, the transformation of the energy system has also affected the efficiency of the power grid. This paper employs the input-oriented distance stochastic frontier model to analyse the efficiency of China's power grid from 2010 to 2020. The results indicate that the rise in the proportion of thermal power and hydropower has a positive impact on enhancing power grid efficiency, whereas wind power and solar power generation have a negative effect on power grid efficiency. Overall, energy transformation has worsened fluctuations in grid efficiency.
