The wetting deformation of rockfill dam has a significant impact on the safety and stability of the dam. The single-line wetting method of coarse-grained soil for Tianxingba reservoir is carried out by using compression apparatus to reveal the mechanism of wetting deformation, and establish the mathematical model of wetting deformation accumulation with time. The results show that the wetting deformation of coarse-grained soil is significant and cannot be ignored, and increases significantly with the increase of vertical compressive stress. According to the development characteristics of wetting deformation rate, the wetting deformation can be divided into instantaneous deformation and rheological deformation, and the rheological deformation is greater than the instantaneous deformation. Based on the time-history curve of the wetting deformation, a four- parameter hyperbolic wetting compression deformation model is established, by which the development law of wetting deformation of coarse-grained soil can be reflected objectively.
