Roxana-Mariana Beiu is a senior lecturer with “Aurel Vlaicu” University of Arad as well as a senior researcher with the 3OM Optomechatronics Group. She graduated from the University Politehnica of Bucharest (UPB, Bucharest, Romania) in 1994, majoring in Fine Mechanics. Between 1995 and 2001 she was a research engineer with the Institute of Advanced Technologies (ITA, Bucharest, Romania) designing various mechanical and optical devices. Between 2001 and 2005 she was a PhD candidate with the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Washington State University (WSU, Pullman, USA). There she has worked both as a teaching assistant (for mechanics of materials) and as a research assistant (on non-invasive brain measurement techniques). Roxana-Mariana Beiu got her PhD magna cum laude from her alma mater (UPB) in 2007 for a thesis “On Theoretical and Experimental Developments of a Novel Class of Sensors for Assessing Mechanical Deformations.” Her main research interests are in optomechatronics, optical systems, sensors, and photonics.
