Angus Hin-Lap Yip is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the School of Energy and Environment at City University of Hong Kong. He also serves as the Associate Director for the Hong Kong Institute for Clean Energy since 2022. Yip's research is centered on the enhancement of organic and perovskite optoelectronic devices, with a focus on their efficiency, stability, and scalability. His work in innovative material design, interface engineering, architecture optimization, scalable fabrication, and stability studies is making significant strides in the field of optoelectronics for renewable energy and next-generation lighting applications.
Before joining City University in 2021, Yip served as a Professor at the South China University of Technology from 2013 to 2020 and was the Director of the Innovation Center for Printed Photovoltaics. His educational background includes a BSc and MPhil in Materials Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He has co-founded several companies in clean energy, including HKTech Solar Ltd and ATEC Film Technologies Ltd.
He published over 280 scientific publications, 40,000 citations, and an H-index of 102 (Updated to Oct 2023). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and has received several honors, including being named a “Highly Cited Researcher” by the Web of Science in Materials Science and Cross Field from 2014-2023, and receiving the IUMRS Frontier Materials Young Scientists Award. He is also an elected member of the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences.
